Lighting a candle at my moms grave. Earlier we lighted one at Carolines grave. She's our eldest daughter. |
I piskende regn. Herlig.
Christmas was a bit different for us this year. A new home and a new church. We have always attended Evangeliekirken, but this year we went to our local church - Ask. Here in Norway we celebrate Christmas a little bit different from U.K and the U.S (and probably most others who all got their own traditions) Our big day is the 24th. We start with a big breakfast, some eat risengrynsgrøt (porridge made of rice) for lunch and then we go to church. It is also a custom to light a candle at the graves. But the real celebration starts after five - with christmas dinner. Here it varies what we eat. In the eastern parts of Norway they eat turkey or ribs from pork. Where we come from(the western part) we eat smoked or salted ribs from lamb, and the northern parts eats cod. And after dinner we open presents. This is probably the biggest difference.
Vi gjør oss klare for årets høydepunkt - pinnekjøtt middagen.
Ready for the most important meal of the year - pinnekjøtt (ribs of lamb) dinner.
Tiden vil vise. Enn så lenge klarer vi oss.
The kitchen we've got now is very compressed. A nicer word for small and crowded. But we'll manage as it's only temporarily. Until we decide if we're going to buy, build or take over. Time will show. By then we'll just have to make do with what we've got.
Tre spente unger. Hvem vet?? Uerstattelig i alle fall.
Three very excited kids infront of our tree. Notice the thing Julian is holding on to. It used to be a blankie, then a skein and now...?? Who knows. Inreplacable at least.
The 25.th we went to a family dinner. It was so good to see aunts, uncles and cousins again. It doesn't happen all too often. And this year I really looked forward to spending time with this beautiful crowd.
